SEASONS OF LIFE
“As long as the earth exists, there will always be a time for planting and a time for harvest. Times of cold and heat will always come. There will always be summer and winter. Day and night will never stop.”
(Genesis 8:22)
“God is the One who changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and [greater] knowledge to those who have understanding.”
(Daniel 2:21)
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens. God has made everything fit beautifully in its appropriate time.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1,11a)
🌿Happy New Month!
Welcome to the month of November! Two months to go—two months too much for God to perfect all that concerns you in 2025. Glory to God!
I believe that we are taking active steps to grow our faith in God. Remember, faith does not grow by assumptions—it comes by knowledge, and is strengthened through practice (Romans 10:17; Hebrews 5:12-14). As we have learned, do away with limiting mindsets; believe God for big things; dream kingdom dreams; and live a life of obedience. May we be people of ever-increasing faith, in Jesus’ name.
So, what is the Holy Spirit saying this November? Life is transitory, and change is constant. We understand that life is all about times and seasons (Ecclesiastes 3:1). It therefore behooves us to discern the seasons and cycles of life we experience so that we can make the most of them. Therefore, our prophetic focus for this month is “SEASONS OF LIFE.”
❄️In a matter of days, it will start snowing, and we will have to deal with the reality of winter. The most fervent prayer will not stop winter from coming (Genesis 8:22). It is therefore wise to prepare in anticipation of the changing season, rather than hope that winter will somehow not happen. In the same way, life operates in seasons, and it would be unwise to hope that change will not come. Seasons will not adjust to fit our level of preparedness. Rather it is our preparations that help us cope with varying seasons. Wisdom therefore demands that we not only make the most of the current season, but that we also prepare adequately for the next (Lamentations 3:27; Ecclesiastes 12:1; Proverbs 20:4).
🪴Seasons Reveal Maturity
We must understand that changes in seasons reveal maturity and preparedness—or the lack thereof. There are many adults who, by reason of misusing their earlier seasons, cannot effectively justify the passage of time in their lives. You see, time reveals our level of maturity and development across the seasons of life. Luke 6:46–48 tells the story of the wise builder. The Bible records that the house withstood the storm because it was “built to last” or “well built”. We must understand that the rains and storms of life will come. Life is full of ups and downs, peace and chaos, summer and winter (Genesis 8:22). What determines how we emerge on the other side is how well we “build” in our seasons.
So the question is: since we know that life is a matter of alternating and diverse seasons, how well are we preparing for the change that is inevitable? Are we making the most of our planting season? Are we building capacity to withstand the harshness of our winter season? Are we building up our faith (Jude 20-21)?
Remember this: the same wind that breaks a blade of grass is mere breeze to the mountain. The problem is not the intensity of the wind—it is the stamina of the grass. When you faint in trying seasons, the issue is not the severity of the season but the smallness of your strength; the storm only revealed it.
💎Seasons Reveal God
Seasons reveal God to us—but this is dependent on how we respond in these seasons.
There are realities about God that can only be learnt in a specific season. For those who are currently facing a harsh winter—a trying and overwhelming time—I encourage you not to distance yourself from God. Never judge Him by your seasons. Never feel that you are alone (John 16:32; Isaiah 43:2). In times like these, turn to God; let Him strengthen you and be your peace. Remember that seasons are transient—there is surely an end (Proverbs 23:18). Be still and know that God is working things out. Even when He feels far, rest in His promise that He will never leave nor forsake you. Beloved, you are not alone. You will come out on the other side—victorious, complete, and mature (1 Peter 5:10).
🌾Good vs. Right—Knowing the Right Season
Another important truth is this: there is a difference between what is good and what is right. We all desire good things, but sometimes we want them at the wrong time (Ecclesiastes 3:1a). When we understand our current season, we can be strategic in our approach, directing our energy toward what is important and necessary. Because the sons of Issachar understood the times, they knew the right course of action for Israel in every season (1 Chronicles 12:32).
🙏🏽Final Charge—Living with Wisdom Through the Seasons
As we journey through this month, let us learn to embrace change. Let us also learn to trust God in and through all seasons. We must realize that circumstances do not make Him any less God than He already is—neither will He ever become more God than He is. He remains God in every season, constant through time. Let us also learn the lessons that each season teaches (Romans 5:3). This is what it means to make the most of the times—applying our hearts to wisdom.
