LOVE IN ACTION

“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Let us love by what we do and in truth.”

(1 John 3:18)

“And we can see that it was while we were powerless to help ourselves that Christ died for sinful men. In human experience, very few people will die to save the life of someone else, even if it is for an honest person, though someone might be willing to die for an especially good person. Yet the proof of God’s amazing love is this: that it was while we were sinners that Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:6-8)

Welcome to the month of February. I believe that we have all begun to take intentional steps to reset our year, even as we prepare ourselves for the new levels that God is set to launch us into. It is my prayer that none of us will be left behind on old levels in Jesus’ name.

So, what is the Holy Spirit saying concerning February? We know that this is the month of love. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:19 that our ability to love—to give love—comes from the fact that we have first been recipients of love. We can only give what we have [experienced]. Our heavenly Father is the perfect example of what it means to truly love, and in view of this, He is calling us to examine our love life. This month, our prophetic focus is LOVE IN ACTION.

We all know by now that love is a verb—an action word. Our anchor Scripture (1 John 3:18) reminds us that we demonstrate love by what we do and not merely by what we say. Yes, we can communicate love with our words, and we should, but actions speak louder than words. When our words and actions do not agree, we must re-examine our hearts. We need to ask ourselves whether we truly love as we claim to. Even more importantly, we must question whether our actions are genuinely motivated by love. You see, while acts of giving for instance are not necessarily a display of love, love itself gives. 1 Corinthians 13:1–3 explains this well: it is possible to do the most—not out of love—but from a desire for public recognition or affirmation. Therefore, it is important we ask ourselves: are our deeds truly love in action, or is it something else at play?

What then does love in action look like? Romans 12:9–21 and 1 Corinthians 13 answer this perfectly. Love in action is not self-serving; it seeks the benefit of others, even at personal cost. Love honors what is sacred; it is not profane. Love builds, edifies, and trusts—it is not insecure. Love is patient and kind; it is not boastful or proud. It forgives all wrongs. Love is the response to conflict or imperfections. Think about it for a moment: love is patient, right? Why would you need to be patient if no one is getting on your nerves? So you see that love is a divinely enabled response to less-than-ideal situations (Luke 6:32-36). Our ability to express love is rooted in how much of Christ’s love has been poured into our hearts (Romans 5:5).

Love in action is putting in the effort to make someone’s life easier and better. In the 2022 Open Heavens (June), Daddy G.O. said that you cannot love somebody the way you want; you must love them the way they need in order for them to truly feel loved. Love in action is letting God love people through us. It also means confronting sin when you see it, regardless of the cost—because it is better to speak and save a life than to remain silent and lose a soul. Love is spreading the gospel to a world shrouded in darkness. Love is not passive, nonchalant or distant.

Most importantly, love in action is a reflection of God Himself (1 John 4:7-8). God is love, and when love is in action, it should be an expression of His nature. Any action that is not godly, pure, or holy cannot be described as an act of love. An act of love is, ultimately, an act of God. Remember, we love because He first loved us. So love has its source in God, and anything outside of this source is not of Him.

As we journey further into 2026, we must ensure that our actions and desires flow from a place of love—not lust, comparison, pride, the need for recognition, or any other carnal tendency. Let our lives be an expression of the God-kind of love.
